CONFERENCE COMMITTEE

DESCRIPTION:
The Conference Committee works to plan the conference in the spring of each year. They make arrangements for the conference by: deciding the venue, arranging registration, working with the Education Committee to decide classes and room space, working with the Charity Committee for fundraising needs, recruiting volunteers to help in various areas. They make the conference fun and run smoothly!

EDUCATION COMMITTEE

DESCRIPTION:
The Education Committee's main goal is to educate both new and existing rug braiders in the skill of rug braiding. This is done by soliciting teachers for online classes and for the spring conference. The Education Committee strives for a balance of classes at all levels. They also work closely with the Spring Conference Committee to choose speakers and assign the "Rug Challenge" for each year.

EXHIBIT COMMITTEE

DESCRIPTION:
The Exhibit Committee informs members of the guild of new and upcoming opportunities to exhibit our rugs. Each year they encourage members to show rugs at Sauder Village in August. An important aspect of this committee is to offer assistance (monetary or other) to help members get rugs to and from the exhibits.

FINANCE COMMITTEE

DESCRIPTION:
This committee serves as an advisory committee to the Executive Board. They also support the Treasurer by reviewing income, expenses, bank statements and budget variances. They offer help with tax information and filings. Risk management in terms of insurance, documentation and internal controls are also part of the finance committee's duties. Members should be able to understand financial statements and communicate the information clearly.

FUNDRAISING/SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE

DESCRIPTION:
This committee coordinates fundraising activities for guild member scholarships. They facilitate the making of charity rugs for donation and plan activities such as the "Tea Cup Auction" for the Spring Conference. They also make charity rugs to donate to deserving institutions or individuals.

MEDIA COMMITTEE

DESCRIPTION:
The Media Committee Chairperson is in charge of the content, design, publishing and distribution of the Guild's newsletter. The committee maintains the Guild website as well as other social media platforms. The website is updated with calendar of events, class schedules, exhibit information, and educational videos and instructions.

DESCRIPTION:
The Membership Committee keeps monthly attendance records. The committee compiles a membership list for publication on the website with updates as needed.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE

DESCRIPTION:
The Nominating Committee presents a slate of nominees for offices up for election to membership at the April meeting. Other nominations can be taken from the floor at the April meeting and prior to voting at the May meeting. The slate of officers are voted on and installed at the May meeting. Transition from old to new occurs during the month of June.

PROGRAM COMMITTEE

DESCRIPTION:
The Program Committee plans the monthly meeting’s agenda, including any workshops or speakers. The committee also seeks out exhibit opportunities for members.
